About the 2021 1/2 Oz Gold Maple Leaf Coin
Produced by the Royal Canadian Mint, the Gold Maple Leaf Coin is the official gold coin of Canada. The coin was first introduced in 1979 and originally was measured with .999 fineness until 1983. The gold content in the coins is now .9999 fineness. The Gold Maple coins are available in different sizes starting from 1/20oz. 1/10oz, 1/4oz, 1/2oz, and 1oz.
Similar to all Maple Leaf coins, the reverse displays the iconic Maple Leaf. The effigy is incredibly detailed, showcasing the veins and seams of the leaf. Above the coin, the word “Canada” is displayed, along with the words “Fine Gold 1/2oz Or Pur” under the leaf. On either side of the effigy of the leaf, the purity of the coin, .9999, is displayed. To add to the security features of the coin, the effigy of the leaf is over radical lines, and the coin has a reeded edge.
Similar to the other Maple Leaf Coins, the obverse of the coin displays the effigy of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. The effigy displays her right side, along with “Elizabeth II” Below the effigy, the coin displays the face value, 20 dollars, and the year, 2021.
