About the Platinum Armillary Coin

The platinum armillary coins use remarkable technology, making the coins one of a kind. These unique coins can be divided into four 1/4 oz platinum rings. The coin itself is named after the armillary sphere, which was invented by Erathosthenes circa 200 B.C. The concept and purpose of an armillary sphere was to model a globe that is split along its equator and other meridians. Each coin is sealed in a tamper-proof display card, which all display the weight, purity, a unique serial number, and the signature of the Certified Assayer. 

The CombiBar technology brought Valcambi Suisse tons of popularity and success. Similar to the detachable bars of the CombiBar, the Armillary coin can be used in the same way.  Each of the 1/4 oz rings are completely detachable from the original coin. Each individual 1/4 oz coins can be detached without any loss of material. The individual coins are attached in concentric circles. The coins can be twisted to form an armillary sphere. 

On the reverse side of the coin, there is a checkered background covering the top half of the coin. There is a large number 1, with the letter Z on the right side of the centre. Each individual ring has the weight, 1/4 oz, and the purity, Pt 999,5 including the signature of the Certified assayer.

The obverse face of the coin displays the Valcambi signature four times around the face. While the top signature is completely visible, the rest of the three signatures are cut off.
