The reverse face of the coin shows the Great Horned Owl swooping into flight. The owl has its wings spread ready to swoop in and catch its next prey. The Great Horn Owl is a highly adaptable bird that is also a ‘Hunter of the Sky’.
The coin’s obverse, designed by Ian Rank-Broadley, displays the recognizable profile of Queen Elizabeth II on the right. Inscriptions surrounding the Queen include “ELIZABETH II”, “SOLOMON ISLANDS”, as well as the year and denomination. A unique serial number appears on the left side of the coin. Lastly, the weight and purity feature prominently in the middle of the coin.
