About the 2022 2 Oz Silver Australian Lunar Tiger

The 2022 Australian Lunar Tiger is the 3rd year of issue in the Lunar Series III program by Perth Mint. The coin was minted in celebration of the upcoming Chinese New year, as 2022 is the year of the Tiger. The Australian Lunar coins contain 2 Troy ounces of .9999 pure silver. Throughout the years of the Lunar Series III collection, the silver series includes 1/2 Oz, 1 oz, 2 oz, 5 oz, 1 Kilo, and 10 Kilo silver coins. 

The reverse face of the coin displays the effigy of an adult tiger, followed by its cub. This effigy of the tiger is designed by Jennifer McKenna. Above the tigers, the year, 2022, as well as the word Tiger is displayed. In addition to the effigy of the tigers, there is a micro-engraved security element.

The obverse face of the coin displays the effigy of her majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. The effigy displays the right profile of Her Majesty, wearing the George IV State Diadem Crown. Originally, this specific effigy was designed by Jody Clark and issued by the Royal Mint in 2015. The effigy was then used by Perth Mint in 2018. The previous two editions of the Lunar Series III used the previous effigy of the Queen. The 2022 edition is the first of the Lunar Series III to display this effigy of the Queen.
