The new EC8 currency program will launch with the Brown Pelican as the subject of the second issue. This coin is the second of eight issues in this historic series with low mintages and lavish designs. It was issued by the government of St. Kitts and Nevis and is the second of eight releases in the series.

It is impossible to fully appreciate the natural and cultural scenes of St. Kitts and Nevis until you have been there. Despite the fact that it is difficult to capture all of this in a single coin design, the Scottsdale Mint has come close. 

On the obverse side a portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, as well as the weight and purity, are displayed. On the other hand, a brown pelican, the national bird of Saint Kitts and Nevis, appears in the foreground. Sailboats may be seen silhouetted against the islands in the foreground.

The Eastern Caribbean Bank (ECB) will issue four coins in 2018 as part of the EC8 initiative, one for each of the ECCB’s eight-member islands. Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, Saint Kitts, and Nevis, and Saint Lucia are Commonwealth of Dominica islands. 

This category includes Saint Vincent and the Grenadines as well. The Eastern Caribbean Central Bank is the authorized issuer of the Eastern Caribbean Dollar, which will serve as the basis for the EC8 2019 Coin Program.
